Low water consumption (dry process)
Double A uses a special dry process to make wood chips instead of the traditional practice of immersing wood in water in order to peel off the bark. This provides substantial savings in water consumption.
Lowest water consumption for pulp bleaching process
Double A’s advanced technology means that we use only 6-7 cubic meters of water per ton of pulp in our bleaching process. This is far less than other paper manufacturers who usually consume over 60 cubic meters of water per ton of pulp.
Bleaching system with ECF
We use the latest bleaching process which is Elementary Chlorine Free (ECF) and so does not produce dioxins that are harmful to the environment.
Waste Utilization
Double A uses waste from our manufacturing process – wood bark, chips, used water with lignin, and sludge - as biofuel to produce electricity and steam. We produce more electricity than we need and supply the rest through the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand under the Small Power Producing project (SPP). The carbon dioxide from the Power and Recovery Plant is transformed into Precipitated Calcium Carbonate which is used as to enhance the brightness of Double A paper.
Recycling system for chemical substances
In order to generate electricity from the used water, re-agents from the previous processes are recycled. Likewise, Calcium Carbonate is added and used (produces limestone) to the reaction.
Quality of Air
Double A helps to maintain air quality by eliminating the foul smell produced during the boiling process by immersing limestone in the recovery boiler. Pulp Mill 2 uses a burning process called “Quench System” where the smoke is transformed into Methanol (a kind of fuel). The “Flare System” is also used as an alternative option. In addition, the “Electro Static Precipitator” (ESP) decimates 99% of the dust and provides efficient 24 hour operation.
Quality of Noise
Our Wood Chip Plant has been constructed to contain the noise level at 60 decibels, which is lower than the rate set by the Industrial Ministry. This is another factor that enables us to be employee and community friendly.
